President’s Message

President’s Message

At Western Connecticut State University our mission is to help students explore areas of study and learn to adapt in an ever-changing world. By introducing students to a variety of disciplines and teaching methods, we help our students find the path that is the best for them.  We also offer our students a campus life that is rich with opportunities to grow outside the classroom, which prepares them for a lifetime, both personally and professionally.

Our students represent the diversity that characterizes public higher education today. Some are traditional college-age students who live on campus; other students are balancing their studies while caring for their families and working.  We encourage all of our students to reach their fullest potential by providing the necessary resources from organized clubs to career counseling and tutoring.

At Western we believe in offering small classes taught by dedicated professors. Our goal is to make a lasting impact on students, one that will give them confidence to continue growing long after their formal education is completed.

Western also continues to reach out to the community to participate in campus events and has expanded the physical structure of our campus. In recent years, we opened a new 130,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Visual and Performing Arts Center on our Westside campus and a $49 million Science Building with a Weather Center on our Midtown campus.  We always take every opportunity to provide our students with the very best they need to focus on their goals.  We educate students not only for their first jobs, but also for their entire careers.

Our commitment remains firm to continue to serve our students. Their futures are our mission and passion.  We look forward to helping you shape yours.

Welcome to Western!

Sincerely,

Dr. John B. Clark
