The program to obtain a Certificate in Intermediate Administration and Supervision (Endorsement 092), available to students admitted to the Ed.D. in Instructional Leadership program, is accredited at the state level by the CSDE and nationally through the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). This certificate program, sponsored by WCSU, is a collaboration between WCSU and Central Connecticut State University (CCSU), and requires previous teaching certification and teaching experience.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif\"><strong>Program Overview: Certificate in Intermediate Administration and Supervision (Endorsement #092)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif\">The Certification in Intermediate Administration and Supervision (Endorsement #092) is available to current or former Ed.D. Instructional Leadership candidates. The Certificate in Intermediate Administration and Supervision program is offered to candidates who have fulfilled the requirements of a planned program leading to administrative positions in a school district up to and including assistant\/associate superintendent in the State of Connecticut. These positions include roles such as department chair, curriculum coach or director, assistant principal, and principal. To receive the endorsement, all candidates must complete a planned program approved by the CSDE and receive a passing grade on the Connecticut Administrator\u2019s Test (CAT).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif\">WCSU\u2019s state and nationally approved program is offered in collaboration with CCSU and is ONLY available for graduate students enrolled in WCSU\u2019s Ed.D. in Instructional Leadership program. These criteria must be met by all applicants:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif\">a master\u2019s degree in education or a related field from an accredited institution<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif\">evidence of five years of full-time educational experience in a PK-12 setting<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif\">completion of at least 36 semester hours (three credits) of a special education course<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif\">a state-approved planned program specific to school administration<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif\">For WCSU\u2019s program, the entrance materials include the following information:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif\">two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/education\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/38\/2018\/12\/o92-application.pdf\">recommendations<\/a>, using a form with specific criteria and questions developed in conjunction with faculty at WCSU, CCSU, and local administrators. One recommendation needs to be completed by the candidate\u2019s district superintendent or someone at the executive level of the school district (central office), and the second should be submitted by a supervisor of the applicant.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif\">an application and leadership <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/education\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/38\/2018\/12\/o92-application.pdf\">mini-portfolio<\/a> needs to be completed by each applicant. The application will be assessed using a scoring rubric that incorporates knowledge, skills, and dispositions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif\">an interview, including an accompanying four-point rating of target criteria, will be completed by all interviewers.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif\">An admissions committee will minimally consist of the educational administration program coordinator, at least one other faculty member from the Ed.D. program, and a present or former local school administrator. All candidate materials will be reviewed by the admissions committee before entry to the program will be granted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif\"><strong>Admissions Policies<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif\">Graduate students in the Ed.D. program must complete the requirements for the degree within the six-year period immediately preceding the awarding of the degree. However, there are times when an extension through WCSU\u2019s Office of Graduate Studies is available if a student needs to request additional program completion time beyond the six-year limit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif\"><strong>Transfer of Credit<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif\">There are two opportunities to transfer credits to the EdD in Instructional Leadership program. Students who wish to use transfer credits\u00a0upon entry to the program\u00a0must make this request at the time of initial application to the university.\u00a0Transfer of courses completed after a student is admitted to the graduate program must be approved in advance of registering for a course outside of WCSU by completing the transfer credit form.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif\">The amount of graduate credit transferable into the doctoral degree program from other accredited institutions is limited to 25% of the total credits. Students must complete half the program (50% of the total credits) at WCSU (including, seminars, internships, culminating projects and\/or comprehensive examination).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif\">All transfer credits must represent satisfactory work (a grade of B or better) at the institution where the work was completed and must be in accordance with a planned program of study. Transfer credits older than\u00a010 years are not accepted toward any graduate program at WCSU.
