The study of human physiology and pathophysiology with application to advanced nursing interventions and evaluation of outcomes by the advanced practice nurse. This course builds upon a strong foundation in anatomy and physiology, emphasizing alterations in cellular structure and function, and alterations in biochemical processes, and the integration of the effects of disease on body systems.<\/span><\/p>\n

NUR 516\u00a0 Psychopathology 3 SH<\/span><\/strong>
\nThis course provides foundation for understanding psychopathology of psychiatric disorders or <\/span>mental health problems from various perspectives as it applies to nursing assessment, diagnosis, <\/span>interventions, and evaluation of outcomes. Theoretical base of psychopathology will be explored <\/span>according to the current diagnostic criteria. This course focuses on pharmacotherapeutic principles, mechanisms of action, and selection of pharmaceutical agents in advanced clinical nursing practice. Emphasis is placed on drug therapy and the identification and avoidance of adverse drug reactions and interactions. NUR 571 Psychopharmacology 3 SH<\/span><\/strong>
\nThis course focuses on psychopharmacology principles, mechanism of action and selection of <\/span>pharmaceutical agents in treatment of psychiatric disorders or mental health problems. Emphasis <\/span>is on neurobiology, the biologic actions of psychotropic drugs and identifying how medications <\/span>can induce brain chemistry, mood, and behavior. Learners develop knowledge and skills to effectively use statistics in different educational research designs.\u00a0 Topics include selection-appropriate statistical analyses, including descriptive and inferential statistics.\u00a0 Students are also prepared to utilize statistical software packages.<\/span><\/p>\n

NUR 813 Dissertation Seminar I<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Learners will be guided through the research process as they develop their dissertation proposals.\u00a0 By the end of the course, students will produce the first draft of the proposal for the course faculty and dissertation adviser.<\/span><\/p>\n

NUR 814 Dissertation Advisement II<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Learners will be guided through the process as they await Institutional Research Board approval and will\u00a0begin the data collection phase.\u00a0 In this seminar approach, learners will work individually with their dissertation adviser.<\/span><\/p>\n

NUR 815 Dissertation Advisement III<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Learners will continue to work with their dissertation advisers as they complete the data-collection phase and begin to analyze their data.<\/span><\/p>\n

NUR 816 Dissertation Advisement IV<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Learners will continue to work with their dissertation advisers to complete writing the dissertation and conducting the dissertation defense.<\/span><\/p>\n
